Meeting 11/04/06

Present: Steve Pasadis, John Christenson, Gary Davis, Jim Gordon, Ralph Thomas, Mike Duggan, Tony Conrardy, George Elbert, Bob Andrews & Dave Marquez

Absent: Jeff Goering, Vic Shellenberg & Wayne Thompson

Call to Order: 7:05 AM by Steve

Minutes: Were assumed to be correct and will be posted on the website.

Treasurer’s Report: We have $3,502.30 in the CD and $16,472.88 in the checking account for a total of $19,975.18. George noted that, compared to last year, we are $2,500 +/- to the good.

George also moved that we increase the prizes for the Turkey and Ham Shoots to $45 from the present $20, in order to make the tournaments more popular with the membership. The move was seconded and, after some discussion, passed unanimously.

Publicity: Steve handed out copies of the yearly mailer for review by the Board. Scratch flightsd have been added to 5 tournaments for next year. Steve is in the process of analyzing the payout structure to determine what the payouts for the scratch flights will be. He also reworked the Grand Prix points system and noted that in the mailer, as well. The Board had some suggestions for the sign up format, noted by Steve. It was decided to hold the stuffing meeting at Steve’s on the night of 12/13.

The Club Championship was brought up for discussion, again. Tony noted that there are several other tournaments in the area which may be attracting the better quality players. This led to further discussion, but no resolution.

NCGA: Bob reported that there had been no correspondence with the NCGA during the month.

Gary thinks that there may have been further problems with one of the second tier NCGA tournaments. The qualifiers weren’t notified by the NCGA of the date, etc. This led to more discussion of the members’ and Board’s responsibilities in this regard. It was decided that, in the future, Bob and Gary would collaborate to make sure that the communication is seamless.

Membership: We have 680 presently, with 370 +/- signed up already for next year. As approved earlier by the Board, the dues for the coming year have been raised to $80.

Tournaments: There are 138 players signed up for the Dues Breakfast. Tee times are from 7:30 to 12:30. Bob Borowitz will be offering breakfast burritos. Vic and Mike are working.

Gary reported that there have been some no-shows in the recent past and that he is prepared to DQ them from future tournaments if they continue to not respond.

Old Business: Ralph reported as fully as possible on the selection process for the restaurant vendor for the new clubhouse. It’s still a mystery and will in all likelihood remain one for the foreseeable future.

New Business: None.
