Bennett Valley Golf Club

Meeting 07/09/05

Present: John Christenson, Gary Davis, Jim Gordon, Bob Andrews, George Elbert, Stu Diamond, Ralph Thomas, Mike Duggan, Vic Shellenberg, Steve Pasadis & Steve Orlick

Absent: Wayne Thompson

Call to Order: 7:00 AM by Stu

Minutes: Were read and approved.

Treasurer’s Report: The Club has $3,398.53 in the CD and $28,701.76 in the checking account for a total of $32,100.29. The slight increase is due to several ½ year memberships joining the Club.

Publicity: It was noted that Gary posted a letter on the website, thanking the grounds’ crew for their care of the course.

Steve reported that the server crashed, but is now up and running. He asked that the board members re-e-mail him their e-mail addresses to

steve@pasadis.com

NCGA: It turns out that we are exempt from attending the regional meeting-we will have to go eventually.

There is new software on the computer that recognizes members’ names throughout the NCGA jurisdiction. We can even do tournament pairings on-line, once we figure it out.

Membership: We are up to 697.

Tournaments: There will be 2 directors needed to run the next tournament on Sunday. Tee times for both Saturday and Sunday run from 7:00 to 12:30.

The issue of the conflicting schedules between the Club and the NCGA for their tournaments and the awkward position that we find ourselves vis-à-vis this year’s NCGA 2-Man was revisited. After much discussion, rehashing, motions made and remade, it was decided to inform this year’s qualifiers that they were basically SOL because the NCGA changed the date for admissions. They will not be able to go this year, but will be compensated from the pro shop. We will, going forward, schedule NCGA events as early in the year as possible, so as not to encounter this problem again. The NCGA Zone remains a moving target.

The blind draw on the Seniors’ Qualifier needs to be redone because one of the blind draws had already qualified.

Bob announced that Bob B doesn’t want to provide food for the August Shotgun Tournament. Bob A proposed that we hire Jeff Bodwin to cater and have a raffle with prizes totaling $1,000 held to keep the members’ interest. This proposal was motioned, seconded and passed. George will rent the necessary tables, chairs and umbrellas.

Old Business: None

New Business: Steve P mentioned elections.

Meeting adjourned at 8:05

Respectfully Submitted,

John Christenson, Secretary
